Bothy Trip Blog

In November 2023, Caley Water went on their annual “Bothy” trip – a weekend filled with walking, team-bonding, and sitting in a “hot tub.” This year, we stayed in Mick’s hut near Inverness, a 4-hour drive from the office in Edinburgh.

Having arrived late on the Friday night, we enjoyed some Spag bol and some team games in the dark before heading to bed in preparation for our big walk on Saturday,

We headed off on our walk early on Saturday morning. Although it was November, we were greeted with a sunny day with very little wind. We began climbing the Munro Ciste Dhubh and the Corbett of Am Bathach. After 5 hours, with some very wet feet and one very happy dog, we reached the top, took in the views, and began heading back to the bothy.

On our final night we enjoyed another cooked meal before getting into the “hot tub.” Although the water was just below boiling, we somehow managed to stay in for several hours. After some games and lots of questionable singing, we called it a night and headed to bed. Some opted for camping outside for the full Bothy trip experience, which they sure did get.

After a quick breakfast on Sunday, we headed back to Edinburgh, all tired and some sore heads but content after a very enjoyable weekend.
