Caley Water is proud to highlight the extraordinary endeavours of the Maclean brothers: three Scots who fuse a love of adventure with a drive to make a real difference. Based in the Highlands, Lachlan, Ewan and Jamie train year-round to push human endurance to its limits while raising vital funds and awareness for clean water projects.

In 2020, under the team name BROAR, they took on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge—3,000 miles non-stop and unsupported from La Gomera to Antigua. After 35 days, 9 hours and 9 minutes at sea, they shattered three world records (first trio of brothers, fastest and youngest team) and raised over £200,000 for charity.

Throughout each voyage, they share daily “Ship’s Log” updates, live tracking maps and film episodes, offering honest insights into the physical and mental rigours of ocean rowing and demonstrating how transparency and community engagement can amplify impact.

Building on their Atlantic success, they founded The Maclean Foundation in 2023 to deliver sustainable clean-water solutions in Madagascar—where only 14% of rural residents have access to safe water. In April 2025 they embarked on a historic 9,000-mile, non-stop Pacific row, aiming to raise £1 million and transform the lives of over 40,000 people.

Caley Water wholeheartedly salutes the Macleans’ unwavering commitment and encourages everyone to support their mission.
