At Caley Water, we support colleagues in sharing personal challenges and stories that are meaningful to them. Recently, our colleague Ye Lwin completed an 81-kilometre running challenge over ten days to mark the 81st birthday of Aung San Suu Kyi and to support the Proof of Life campaign.

My name is Ye Lwin, and I am a member of the Caley Water team originally from Myanmar.
To mark the 81st birthday of Aung San Suu Kyi, I joined the Proof of Life campaign, which is led by her son, Kim Aris. As part of my personal support, I set myself a challenge: to run 81 kilometres over ten days. The Proof of Life campaign calls for credible confirmation that Aung San Suu Kyi is alive and well. It seeks transparency and independent verification of her welfare following years of detention and limited public information.
This challenge was a personal initiative rather than a company-led campaign, but I was grateful for the encouragement and support of my colleagues throughout. Regardless of politics, I believe that every person deserves dignity and the right for families to know that their loved ones are safe and well.
Running has a way of teaching perseverance. Progress comes from consistency, showing up day after day, even when conditions are difficult. Over the ten days, there were busy workdays, tired legs, and challenging weather, but each run brought me closer to the goal.
One of the highlights came on the final day, when a colleague joined me for the closing run. After ten days of effort, it was a meaningful way to finish the challenge and reflect on the support I had received. When I completed the final kilometre, I felt a sense of achievement — not because of the distance alone, but because the challenge helped create conversations and awareness.
“Proof of life matters.”
