Celebrating World Environment Day with Caley Water
Date: 5 June 2025
At Caley Water, our work is deeply rooted in protecting and preserving the environment. That’s why World Environment Day – celebrated annually on June 5th – is an important occasion for us to reflect on the environmental challenges we face, and the role we all have to play in creating a sustainable future.
What is World Environment Day?
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972, World Environment Day is the UN’s principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Hosted each year by a different country and focusing on a particular theme, the day has grown to become one of the largest global platforms for environmental outreach.

Each year, millions of people from over 150 countries participate in clean-up drives, tree planting, awareness campaigns, and educational events. It’s a reminder that small actions can make a big difference – and that every one of us has a role in the health of our planet.
Why It Matters to Us
At Caley Water, we specialise in delivering sustainable drainage, wastewater, and clean water solutions across the UK. Our work directly contributes to reducing pollution, improving water quality, and protecting local ecosystems – key areas that align with the goals of World Environment Day.
We see first-hand how urban growth, climate change, and ageing infrastructure can threaten environmental resilience. That’s why we collaborate with local authorities, developers, and water companies to provide forward-thinking solutions that are both technically sound and environmentally responsible.
This Year’s Theme
Each World Environment Day is centred on a key environmental issue. In recent years, topics have included plastic pollution, ecosystem restoration, and climate action. The 2025 theme focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience, aligning with global efforts to combat degradation and restore nature.
What You Can Do
Whether you’re an individual, community group, or business, there are plenty of ways to get involved:
- Reduce plastic use and recycle whenever possible.
- Conserve water at home and work.
- Support biodiversity by planting pollinator-friendly plants.
- Educate others about sustainable practices.
- Volunteer for local clean-up or conservation efforts.
Our Commitment
We’re proud to contribute to a healthier environment through our projects, people, and partnerships. On World Environment Day – and every day – we’re committed to solutions that balance infrastructure needs with ecological impact.
Together, we can make water systems cleaner, communities more resilient, and the future a little greener.
