As the excitement of Euros 2024 sweeps across Europe, the atmosphere at Caley Water in Edinburgh is buzzing with anticipation. This prestigious football competition not only unites nations but also brings together the diverse and vibrant team at Caley Water, celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures and backgrounds that make our company unique.
At Caley Water, we are proud of our multicultural team, representing countries from all corners of Europe and beyond. Among our dedicated staff (and those with team at the Euros), we have individuals hailing from Scotland, England, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland, each bringing their own unique perspectives and passion for the beautiful game.
The Euros 2024 offers us a perfect opportunity to embrace our diversity, as we cheer for our respective home teams (and some others) while celebrating the unity and camaraderie that football fosters. The competition, held every four years, is more than just a series of matches; it is a festival of sportsmanship, bringing people together to share in the joy of competition, the thrill of victories, and the lessons of defeats.
The majority of our staff are Scottish, and for the Scots fans, just being at the tournament is the great achievement. It would be nice to win some games and even get out of the group stages, but perhaps a tanking is more likely. The Tartan Army, known for their passionate support, will undoubtedly be a source of inspiration and excitement within our office. Likewise, our English colleagues will be rallying behind the Three Lions, hopeful that this might be their year to (finally) bring the trophy home.
Our Belgian colleague (Nico), will be fully behind his nation. The Belgians, known for their ‘golden generation’ of talented players, but never having won anything with them will be expected to get out of the group stages. Our Italian staff (Giovanni) will be looking to The Azzurri and current champions to add another star to their illustrious record. And let’s not forget our Swiss(ish) staff member Logan, who will bring a touch of the Alps’ cool-headed determination and precision to their support.
