Swiss Peaks and The Hold Fast Challenge

This Saturday the 9th of September, our Managing Director, Paul will be taking part in the Swiss Peaks running event. Here Paul, will run 70km over the Swiss Alps non stop. His brother Graham, and Caley Water Finance Director is already half way through his 360km run through the Swiss Alps.

The Swiss Peaks Running Event is a prestigious and gruelling trail running competition set amidst the breath-taking backdrop of the Swiss Alps. This annual event, celebrated for its challenging courses and stunning scenery, has gained global recognition among trail runners and adventurers.

Taking place in Switzerland, a country known for its majestic mountains and pristine landscapes, the Swiss Peaks Running Event offers a unique experience for participants. Athletes from all corners of the world gather to test their endurance and skill in some of the most awe-inspiring natural settings on Earth.

The event features a range of race distances to accommodate diverse abilities and preferences, from shorter sprints to ultra-marathons that can span over 100 kilometres. What sets this event apart is its rugged and varied terrain, which includes steep ascents, technical descents, alpine meadows, and dense forests. Runners must navigate high-altitude routes, often reaching dizzying heights, which adds an extra layer of challenge.

Competitors not only face the physical demands of the race but also get to immerse themselves in Switzerland’s unparalleled natural beauty. Along the way, runners are treated to panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, crystal-clear lakes, and pristine valleys.

The Swiss Peaks Running Event is not just a race; it’s an adventure that celebrates the human spirit and the grandeur of nature. It attracts both elite athletes seeking to push their limits and passionate trail runners who yearn to connect with the mountains. This event embodies the essence of trail running: a fusion of physical prowess, mental fortitude, and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.

Not to be outdone, by the other dangerously healthy Directors, our Director Ross Mckinney will soon be taking part in The Hold Fast Challenge.

The Hold Fast Challenge is an extraordinary military training experience, spearheaded by a team of former Royal Navy Mine Clearance Divers. These elite divers have weathered countless challenges during their service, making them paragons of mental and physical resilience. Their mission is to share their 45+ years of combined diving expertise and fitness by offering a training challenge like no other.

Participants in the Hold Fast Challenge embark on a journey that closely mirrors the demanding regimens of Clearance Divers. It’s a rare opportunity to gain insights into the rigorous physical and mental conditioning required for this specialized role. While some may envision it as a typical obstacle course, it goes far beyond that. This challenge is renowned as one of the toughest training programs globally, surpassing traditional notions of physical fitness and mental endurance.

The Hold Fast Challenge transcends mere physical exertion; it delves deep into the unique and gruelling world of surface training. It’s an immersive experience that not only tests participants’ physical prowess but also pushes their mental fortitude to new limits, making it a truly exceptional military fitness challenge.

Ross will be raising money for Reverse Rett – Reverse Rett is a patient advocacy and research organisation focused on delivering treatments and a cure for Rett Syndrome to everyone affected.
