Caley Water Lunchtime Training

Here at Caley Water, we hold valuable lunchtime training sessions fortnightly at the office. These sessions are led by a different member of the team each time, allowing us to share and develop our knowledge.

Recently, Colin took us through the process of modelling Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW), going over where we get our data from, a ‘How To’ guide on how to model them using various data sources. Finally, he went over the importance of model testing to ensure that the built WwTW accurately replicates the transfer of flows.

This was followed up by Terri talking us through how best to model Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs). Terri went over the various types of CSOs we may come across, including the different screens these may have, and went over how these may be surveyed, as well as helpful tips for modelling them.

Our other lunchtime training sessions have covered a range of topics from Health and Safety to 1D Modelling. More recently, they have covered more modern concepts entering hydraulic modelling such as blue-green infrastructure and SuDS. This allows us to discuss ideas or issues we have encountered, whilst maintaining our collaboration as a team and staying up to date with advances in hydraulic modelling.
