That\u2019s why World Environment Day<\/strong> \u2013 celebrated annually on June 5th<\/strong> \u2013 is an important occasion for us to reflect on the environmental challenges we face, and the role we all have to play in creating a sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is World Environment Day?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972<\/strong>, World Environment Day is the UN\u2019s principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Hosted each year by a different country and focusing on a particular theme, the day has grown to become one of the largest global platforms for environmental outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, millions of people from over 150 countries participate in clean-up drives, tree planting, awareness campaigns, and educational events.
