Peter William Postlethwaite was born on February 7, 1946, in Warrington, to a working-class Catholic family. His parents were Mary Geraldine (n\u00e9e Lawless) and William Postlethwaite, who worked as a cooper, wood machinist, and school caretaker. He grew up alongside his older brother, Michael, and two older sisters, Patricia and Anne. Throughout his acting career, Postlethwaite frequently portrayed Irish characters, which led to the common misconception that he was of Irish heritage. Peter passed on the 2nd of January 2011 aged 64.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
